Comparing currency trading to bird-watching in lion country is very helpful. It really helps me to recognize what a dangerous game I am playing if I don't know what I'm doing. It's vital to first of all recognize the world I am venturing into. And for goodness sake, to use good old-fashioned plain common sense.
As Doc asks - in lion country would you just pick up something strange without thinking about what you are doing? If you were fully alive to what's going on, you would think something like "Hang on I'm in Lion Country, what I'm trying to pick up here could be part of a lion. So before I go ahead and recklessly pick it up, let me take the time to do some research and investigation".
This perspective was the beginning of my waking up to the real currency-trading world.
